Therapy Dog "Bruno"
Good Morning! Loved seeing your new puppies on Facebook. I just thought I’d send a note letting you know that Bruno and I passed the Therapy Dog International Test this week. We are now a certified therapy team and will soon begin going to sites to provide comfort to those in need. The picture is Bruno practicing for his test with my Dad. The teachers of my classes and the evaluator thought that Bruno had the perfect temperament for this work. They always chuckled at his slow, laid back attitude! Hope all is well with you.

I just wanted to write to you and tell you that Blue is six months old now and is the best thing to happen to us. He brings us so much joy! God really blessed us with him. He is such a lover, has the sweetness of sugar that makes your heart melt. He loves snuggles and kisses every morning and has to give Mama one before bed every night. We get compliments all the time on how well mannered and good he is. We just adore him! He never devours his food– he’s a grazer which we heard is unheard of for labs! He has never chewed on any of our things and he has started to stay out of the kennel when we aren’t home now. We never kept him in a kennel at night after the first week and he sleeps on the floor at the bottom of our bed. And yes he was potty trained within a week! We sure got lucky!! He has many friends and playmates around the neighborhood! It seems like everyone has labs. He best friend is my in laws dog so yay for that! 😉
I just thought I’d share about him with you and send you updated photos of Blue.

Puppy "Lily"
Lilly Lou Juniper JujuBelle Swintak Waite (the pink one from her litter) just turned one and we wanted to share some of the highlights of her first year with you. She is a wonderful, sweet, loving, energetic, adventurous, fearless, loving, loving, loving dog! Her big sister Strudel is her best friend and biggest hero, and she’s never met a day– or a person– that she didn’t greet with a full body tail wag! She’s not tall, but she’s a very solid, muscular 56 pounds (outweighing her sister …). She’s a good traveler and has been on many road trips. We can’t imagine/don’t want to imagine life without her!
Please thank Gloria and Lightning for sharing their daughter with us– let them know that we think Lilly is PERFECT!
We wish you and your family all the best!

Welcome Home “Wrenly”
Kyle and Shannon,
"Wrenly is doing so well. She is 6 months old now, and 60 pounds of happy and playful puppy. Wrenly just loves spending time outside. I think she would be content to sit outside and be our Neighborhood Watch. Well…as long as she had some sticks. Sticks are her favorite thing! I thought maybe once all her puppy teeth fell out she would be less interested in sticks, but no such luck!
She is doing well with the obedience training things we are working on at home. She can sit, lay down, and is learning to ”wait” when her food gets placed in front of her.
We get so many compliments on her physique and her rich chocolate color wherever we go."

Miss Daisy
Hello Kyle and Shannon! I just wanted to send a message to let you know that Miss Daisy is such a blessing that we didn't even realize we needed so much until she arrived at our home ❤️ She is the sweetest, smartest, strongest, most beautiful little girl 🥰On the way home, Duke walked to the back seat and just laid his head on the seat. It was if he knew immediately they were going to be the best of friends and he was going to protect her.
We have come a very long way with her potty training in the past week. My parents have fallen in love with her, too. She is so sweet and gives to softest kisses. She has proven to be strong and she and Duke have plenty of play sessions a day. If he gets too rowdy, we pick her up and separate them and, boy, is she disappointed when we do that! We have her in the gate like yours and they play through the gate.
I knew Duke needed a friend. I think he was missing Hank and Halle just as much if not more than we. 😥 I just wanted to thank you for allowing us to adopt her and love her. I anticipated it was a good move, but truly didn't realize it would be this great. ❤️

Chocolate Chunk
Good morning,
I want to let you know how the chocolate chunk has been doing and send an updated picture! He hasn’t had an accident in the house for a week and is starting to walk great on his leash… He just tries to eat everything in sight! His crate training couldn’t have gone any better, he loves going in there to sleep. Moose is also excellent at sitting on command. Some of my favorite things about him is he loves belly rubs, sleeping right on anyone’s feet when we are sitting on the couch, and after we go on walks he likes to do hot laps around the house, it’s hilarious. We brought him to my sisters softball tournament and he was more of a fan favorite than any of the players… Everyone kept saying what a beautiful dog he is, I thought you’d like to know that! 🙂 His health is great and we see the vet again next week!
Hope all is well with you and your family!

Puppy "Oakly"
Hi, We can’t tell you how blessed we feel that we came across WELCOME HOME LABS webpage when we did. From the start you all were very caring and informative. You have prepared us well for our long journey ahead with our baby boy Oakley (A.K.A Tucker). I want to thank you for always being there to answer all my questions and the pictures you would send our way, it always brought a smile to my face.
It has been 3 days since my children A.J, Joshua, Rachael and Ryan thought they were going 5 hours away to the airport to pick up there “cousins” when in reality they were going for there surprise package (Oakley). It was worth a million to see there reactions and smiles, Oakley greeted them all happy and with so much love. On our drive back we actually were afraid we left him in San Antonio lol not once did he make a sound. As soon as we got home he walked around like if he’d always lived here. He gives us so much love that its so easy to give it back. He only has had 2 accidents since arriving both our faults, and he has slept through out the whole night after the first day. The first day he just woke us up twice to go potty but went back to sleep.
At the vet he got checked and they said he was perfect and amazing. They were so in love with him. Its so easy because he’s just so loveable and all thanks to you all, for showing him so much love. The vet said he was so well taken care of and it showed, we did credit it all to welcome home labs. Today he started his obedience training lessons at home and the trainer was amazed to see such a well tempered labrador. She said that when people call her and tell her the breed she comes prepared especially when someone says “Labrador”. She was actually speechless as she saw how well he obeyed commands already. She said we had a “little genius”. Our trainer has no doubt that he is on his way to receiving the “canine good–citizen certificate” in no time, thanks to the start you all gave him and we couldn’t agree with her more. So thank you again for giving us our newest family addition and we only hope we can give him as much love as you have given him and that he deserves. We will keep in touch.

Zoomie Pup
These pictures are 2 weeks old but they are some of the best that I have on my computer. She loves to be out in the snow and playing with her big sister.
Being that Karney is a herding dog, when Monroe gets the zoomies and wants to run around the yard, it helps to create a fun activity for both the girls.
She has transitioned to her bigger crate well. Almost too well. She doesn’t not like to sleep in beds. However if I am sleeping on the couch, she is perfectly content to snuggle. Usually laying on my back with her head next to mine.
Over Easter she got lots of attention. We had a house full of little kids and she did great. My oldest 2 nephews are so in love with her that they keep asking if I will let them keep her and get a new one. My answer is a big NO. I love this little girl. Well not so little. I think we are pushing the 30 pound mark. But that is ok. She is just beautiful. When we go walking or visiting people always compliment her on her beautiful color. She is still mostly white with gold points. We did find one black hair in all the white when we were brushing her.
At the end of April we are thinking of taking her out to the woods for the first time if the snow goes away. Dad has a starter pistol to start her out on. I am looking forward to this fall. She is already showing that she has great potential. She follows any thing that we roll or throw. She has also picked up the commends we use for Karney. She is a very confident dog. Nothing scares her. She is cautious of new things without being fearful.
Looking at Brook and George, I see a lot of George in her. Especially her eyes. She has the same expressive eyebrows that he has. They made a beautiful puppy. I would love to have another one.
I will send some more pictures soon.
She is growing so fast.
Thank you again.

We Love "Lucy"
We (Lara, Chad, Blake and Max Petersen) just had to write to update you on our precious Lucy. We are so in love with her. She has a wonderful, fun loving and patient personality. Winston
Hi ,
I am SO sorry I have not emailed until now. I feel a little like a new Mom with a baby just happy that you get a shower each day. 🙂
Winston (you called him Hodsgi…which by the way, what is the origin of that name, we had never heard it before) is doing GREAT. Our Vet (who has always had Labs) said you guys gave him the BEST start and said he would say Winston was “confident but mellow”…which pretty much sounds like what you observed wtih him.
He is doing great. He is So SMART. He has already learned so many things…he comes when called–EVERYTIME…he SITS on command and is learning WAIT…since we make he and Lola do that before they can eat. He also is getting the outside potty thing down pretty well (meaning we are really good at guessing when he needs to go “) but he is learning. He also goes all night long sleeping in his crate in our room and only ever got up 2 nights.
He and his “big” sister Lola love to play together and are starting to learn appropriate play and not all–star wrestling.
I have attached a couple of photos and also have a really cute video of the 2 of them and have sent it in a separate email as it was SO large. I can’t imagine him not in our lives…he is the sweetest pup and we love him so much.
We are so thankful for raising such wonderful dogs and SO IMPRESSED with everything you all did for them You are the BEST…and we tell everyone that.
I will write and send more photos soon!

Puppy "Luna"
Hi!
It’s hard to believe we have already have Luna as part of our family for 6 weeks! She has grown SO much! Her first weigh in at our vet was 9.4 lbs (the Monday after we picked her up) and just weighed her in for her vet appt today and she is already 18.5 lbs! We love and adore her, she is lovely and friendly. We start puppy school with her tomorrow! I’ve attached pictures in order from the last several weeks so you can see her grow and see her progress. Thank you for such a beautiful, loyal and fun companion!
Best wishes and hope the family is well,

Puppy "Rufus"
Rufus wanted to wish you Happy Easter and to let you know he was neutered March 1st and is doing well.
Rufus loves our other male yellow lab Dillon very much, they are truly buddies.
Rufus is very smart, sneaky, strong and fast but most of all he loves Justin and is usually right by Justin’s side.
He loves riding in Justin’s truck and helping with yard work.
The three dogs have not been able to swim in the river all winter, so yesterday they wouldn’t take no for a command and all three took their first swim for 2013.
Forgot to add Rufus received the highest rating for his hips when x–rayed, the vet was very impressed.
Hope all is well at your home,
Love

Labrador Puppy
Puppy "Bruno"
I just wanted to send a quick note to let you know how much we love our puppy. Bruno is growing so quickly and learning so many new things. Our vet thinks that he is going to be a really big boy. She also thinks that he is very healthy, very sweet, and perfect in every way! She is a “lab person” herself, and has been thinking about getting another puppy. She was extremely interested in Welcome Home Labs because Bruno is such a wonderful puppy. Don’t be surprised to get an inquiry from Dr. Westgard!
Bruno has been going on all kinds of adventures in the Twin Cities. We take daily walks on the Rice Creek Trail, although, Bruno often tires in the middle of the trail and wants to be carried back home! That’s ok! We all take turns carrying him when he is too tired to walk. He plays with his buddy “Cooper”, an English Springer Spaniel several times each week. Bruno has been to several “Dog Friendly” restaurants, but especially likes the Wilde Roast in Minneapolis. I think that is because he gets to meet Lindsay and Chance there! He is a very good patron and everyone has to stop and pet him or give him treats! Going to Mark and Brock’s softball games is really a fun outing! Bruno gets to see Cooper, play with the kids, chase balls, and cheer for “Dad” when he bats! Last week, Grandma and Grandpa came from Illinois to visit. We were a little worried about a puppy with so much energy around Grandpa. He is 86 years old, but loves puppies. Bruno was awesome with him. He was gentle and paid more attention to Grandpa than anyone else! It made Grandpa’s visit extra special! Kendall will soon be moving into her own apartment and getting a kitten. We are excited for Bruno and the kitten to become friends.
Our family cannot thank you enough for making this relationship possible. From the day Kerry and Brock contacted you, you have demonstrated to us the true quality of your breeding facility, as well as your kindness and caring as people. Having lost a dog recently, we were not sure that we were ready to begin a new relationship. You understood that, and helped us make that decision in a kind and caring manner. We are so grateful that we decided to get a puppy and even more grateful that he came from you. It is so reassuring to know that you are available as a wonderful resource to us throughout the many stages that Bruno will go through, and also, that you just want to know how he is doing in his new home. I brag about Welcome Home Labs to everyone, and would highly recommend you as a breeder to anyone. Please feel free to use any part of this email in any way. Also, if anyone would ever like to contact me personally, I would be happy to speak with them about the wonderful experience we had and continue to have with Welcome Home Labs.

Puppy "Deuce"
Hi and Happy Holidays,
I wanted to send you a note to share with you how much we love Deuce. He is a great dog with a lot of personality. He is a wateraholic. We have to make sure the bathroom door is latched otherwise he will be in the shower with you. When you fill up the bathtub for his bath he comes a running and voluntarily jumps in. I have a water garden in the back yard and I can’t keep him out of it. He has his own personal towel hanging by the back door. He gets to come to the office with me every now and again and he has received lots of praises. Everyone is always amazed at how well behaved he is as a puppy; and it wasn’t due to my training. It clearly is his breeding. One of his favorite activities at night is to join me on the lazyboy. He lays on his back and gets his belly rubbed. We just got a dumping of snow and attached are a few picture of him in the snow. I took them through the window; so not the clearest. 🙁
Enjoy the photos and thanks for having a great breeding program.

The "Duke"
The Duke of Sutherland, Carl William continues to grow and be a good boy. The toilet thing is pretty sure, the kennel is a comfortable place, meeting people making friends, retrieving, farming, traveling, all good. He is discovering some of his speed, throws balls into the air and even catches them sometimes. An independent game of catch! Likes wading in the Lake, boat rides. We enjoy him. Thank you for his awesome foundation!
The Duke continues to amuse us, charm us. For example, on Sunday he learned how to descend the stairs. He got to the bottom amid praise and excitement for his problem solving efforts. He had a flash go across his face and he raced back up the stairs so he could descend again and receive heaps of praise. Funny boy. Last evening he stalked his toy, creeping up until the last few feet when he bounded and pounced on the toy. Again and again. This morning I found him stalking me…. Bold eye, intent on his prey. Sure enough the last few steps he bounded and pounced. Of course all this in adorably clumsy puppy fashion. He is a good boy. He is good, after reminders, about chewing our hands. Good in the house. Playful, yet calm.
I don’t Let him on the furniture…..usually–
He is growing up to be a well behaved handsome boy.

Puppy "Ama"
Thank you so much for your lovely card! Ama has settled in quite nicely and just had a vet appointment on Tuesday all is good and she hit the #20 mark… she is growing so fast every time she steps out of her kennel it looks like she is a bit bigger… she is such a joy and we’ll be forever thankful that you let her move in with us. She bonded with Loona and Icy beyond our expectations and it is such a joy to see them play and snuggle together. Icy is her favorite running and wrestling mate. Loona likes to offer her big fluff ball for some „tug and war“ fun.
Here are some of Ama’s milestones so far:
She sits reliably (knowing the word and the hand sign), is pretty good with "come“/"here“ inside and also outdoors, "down“ is still a bit of a hit and miss but she pretty much stopped biting us for good. AND we are totally proud to tell you that Ama is pretty much house trained: she just passed her 10 day anniversary of no accidents… she picked up on how to use the door bells just within a day and lets us know if she needs to go outside.

Puppy "Leo"
Hi! Here is a picture of Leo resting in our kitchen. We thought you might like an update on him. He is such a great puppy, almost through the teething stage and he has beautiful teeth!! He is very excited to see people and other dogs. He has been to the Bloomington dog park 4 times and runs and plays non stop. He has some friends there as well as 2 dogs on our block.
He goes for a walk every day and has gone 2 miles with Adrian.
He has a routine and is very easy going. He loves his crate and has slept in it at night for a long time. He practically trained himself! We had a positive reinforcement trainer come to our house and work with him. She also watches him when we are away.
We can’t say enough about how pleased we are with him, it was a good match!
Hope you are having a good winter and would love to hear from you.

We can’t believe we are celebrating Jemma’s 3rd birthday!
She is a happy girl, especially when we’re out walking, throwing balls or grandchildren are visiting. She loves children! Even hearing their voices will cause her to stop what she’s doing to look for them.
Jemma is so smart and learns tricks quickly. I sent you a picture of Jem with her new birthday present. It did not take long for her to figure it out.
We attend a weekly training classes. We’ve made lots of friends, both human and furry.

Intelligent Puppy
Been awhile since we sent pictures or a message, Here are some over the past month or so. He now has all his shots and is enrolled in puppy school, which he loves. But most of the time he just wants to play with other puppies. Bringing him around to our families over thanksgiving and meet all of our friends everyone has told us how cute calm and intelligent he is. Still he has yet to go to the bathroom in the house and aside from finding any little thing on the floor he seems to understand he can’t eat them and will just bring what he finds to us, maybe he knows he’s cleaning or maybe he just wants to play with it lol. We go on long walks and runs everyday and he never shows a sign of fatigue till we get back to the house. There is a nice open path where we walk and we let him run free off a leash as we walk and he never gets too far from us. Eventually as he gets older and more aware we will get a longer lead lead so he can still run but not take off after a rabbit or pheasant ( Has tried until he realized how they fast they were ) We shot a gun around him for the first time and didn’t really know what to think at first he was kind of scared and wouldn’t move but when he saw we were fine he started to get excited. Hope you guys a good thanksgiving and have a good Christmas.

Puppy "Lucy"
Thought I’d give you a brief update on Lucy’s progress. She is doing great! She sits, shakes, lays down and rolls over. At 14 weeks, we think she might be gifted! Lucy brings much fun and excitement to our house. She now Weighs 26 pounds and is growing quickly. She goes up the stairs in our 2 story house but will not come down them. She barks at us until we go fetch her and carry her down the stairs. She is training us real well!
I own a dance studio so thought it only appropriate to dress Lucy up in a tutu for Halloween. She is so much fun and we are spoiling her rotten. I attached a couple pictures that I thought you might enjoy.
She has been to a few social outings. Michael, our son, plays rugby for St. Johns in Collegeville, MN. It’s common to bring your dog to the games. Lucy has been to a few games to watch Michael play all over the state. Michaels nick name on the rugby team is “Soda Pop” . Lucy’s nickname is “Soda Pup”. The big burly boys on the rugby team play with her and she gets a lot of attention, which she loves.
Lucy brightens every single day and we can’t imagine not having her. You can’t be in a bad mood with a puppy around.
Thank you so much. We are so grateful to have Lucy in our lives!

Una Bear
As promised, pictures of the little fur ball! Gracie/Una is adjusting so well. She is a very happy puppy. Each day she is exploring new things and becoming more adventurous. We can’t believe that she practically knows the command “sit” already! What a smarty pants. She is fairly potty trained and does a little whine to let us know when she has to go out. We are doing the bell ring for potty training and she did the first ring today! She amazes us all the time on how fast she learns–it’s only been 3 days! We love the innocence she brings and the curiosity she that is part of the puppyhood. Today she has been very busy with naps: finding her bed for tired times or taking herself into the crate for a good long nap. She has been eating very good and her poops are normal. We’ve been very lucky at night time as she only has to get up every 3–4 hours—and actually going potty each time we get up with her. She loves her crate and never really fusses when it’s time to go inside. We could not ask for a better pup.
Aaron got home on Sunday and they are loving each other up. He actually has rearranged his schedule so he can come home for ½ days every day this week to spend with her. I think he’s jealous I get so much time.
We are blessed to have this little miracle and bundle of pure joy. Thank you for making our lives so much richer.
Talk to you soon,

Puppy "Whiskey"
I’ve been meaning to write and give you an update on Whiskey (Reese). I’ve attached a photo of our handsome boy! He’s about 4.5 months old in that pic. He’s about 5.5 months old now and weighs about 50 lbs.
He’s perfect and we couldn’t love him more!!! He LOVES to retrieve…we have a rubber chicken that he will track and retrieve all day long. Squeeky balls are fun too! Brady is hoping to get him trained for bird hunting. He’s got very good instincts. We have a wildlife management area nearby and he loves to run and sniff around in the long grass—he knows he’s suppose to be tracking something—he’s just not sure what it is yet! We take him over to the neighborhood ice rink, chuck a puck, and watch him race (and slide) across the ice to get it. He thinks it’s a blast…secretly we laugh at him but don’t tell him that =).
He is learning his basic commands, loves walks, flying, car rides, and playing with the Lake Elmo Airport golden retriever, Gus. He follows us everywhere (he’s rarely on a leash unless we are taking a walk in the neighborhood or at the vet). He sleeps at our feet and keeps them warm. He watches and listens intently…waiting to see what we are going to do next. He gives big sloppy kisses. He loves his people…
Hope you are well and surviving this COLD winter! If you come through Bayport…be sure to stop by!
Our best, Michele, Brady, Logan, Liv, Jack, and Whiskey

Puppy "Mysa"
I just thought you might like to see a picture of Mysa, who turned five months old yesterday.
I took this picture this morning at the dog park, which is 7 acres of woods and beach front along the Mississippi River and is one big dog party, especially on a nice, hot day for swimming.
Mysa actually decided to go after a stick I threw her, even though she had to swim a few feet to get it. This was the first time she decided to swim, even though just a few feet. She’s really growing up.
Mysa has received compliments from her Puppy Prodigy and Puppy Agility teachers for different things, like her trick of getting in a box and lying down, for running effortlessly and easily around a cone (away from me), for learning to get up on a perch and move her back legs to walk all the way around it, for running on the agility bridge with speed and balance, and for her trick of walking on my feet, one of our fun homework assignments.
Hunter and I took Mysa to an outdoor cajun band concert at Minnehaha Park a week or so ago and she got up on my feet and danced to the music with me! That was a lot of fun.
Hope all is very well with you,

You have to feel sorry for Duke. He is so excited when we say “lake”. Picks up his leash and carries it around. He runs to the door and whines while he is looking at the water. He loves to retrieve, and then loves a boat ride….. Tough life for the Duke!
Thanks again for giving him a good start.
Duke loves the water. Is retrieving as long as we throw things and brings it back expecting the next throw. He is so loved.
